On 1 December 2021, the USA initiated a sunset review on Carbon and Alloy Steel Cut-to-Length, from South Africa and 12 other countries.
Unfortunately South Africa, along with Belgium and China, were found to inadequate group responses. South Africa often responds poorly to foreign trade remedy investigations unnecessarily resulting in the loss of important markets, as happened here.
Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Turkey had adequate responses thus resulting in them being granted full reviews. The Brazilian exporters did a good job and had their anti-dumping duties revoked as they were found to not cause injury to the US industry.
