On 2 September 2022, ITAC requested interested parties to comment on the proposed export guidelines for semi-finished metal products.

On 10 February 2012, The Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition proposed export regulations prohibiting the export of certain semi-finished metal products except under the authority of permits issued by the International Trade Administration Commission.

On 5 August 2022, The Minister published a draft notice for public comment on the proposed amendments to the export regulations. The notice follows the Draft Policy restricting and regulating the trade of:

• Ferrous and non-ferrous metals waste
• Scrap and semi-finished ferrous
• Non-ferrous metal products

The Minister has not taken a decision on the proposed policy. However, the Commission has issued preparatory export control guidelines on the exportation of semi-finished metal products.

Interested parties have until 16 September to file comments about the proposed policy.
