Provisional duty imposed on hot rolled steel products imported into South Africa

Author:

After notifying the World Trade Organization (WTO) of its intention to impose a 9% duty on 25 July this year, South Africa has now officially implemented a provisional safeguard duty on hot-rolled steel products imported into the Republic.

This 9% duty will be applied to hot rolled steel imports coming from anywhere in the world. This comes after an application from the South African Iron & Steel Institute (SAISI), on behalf of ArcelorMittal South Africa Limited (AMSA).
